Football for the whole family
Not every family day out has to involve a long drive or a complicated plan. Footy Nation, at Ocean Plaza in Southport, offers something active and different to do together, whatever the weather is like outside.
We found it a fun, action-packed 90 minutes for the whole family. Footy Nation takes football skills and turns them into a series of indoor games, so you don’t need to organise teams or play a full match. There are challenges involving shooting, dribbling, control and quick reactions, with scores adding a bit of friendly competition as you go.
What to expect
The games are varied, which helps keep the visit lively. Some test accuracy, while others ask you to move quickly or keep control of the ball. Football fans will enjoy putting their skills to the test, while people who don’t usually play can still have a go and join in.
It’s a good set-up for families because adults can take part alongside the children. Everyone gets a turn, and there’s plenty to watch and cheer on between games. The atmosphere is energetic without feeling like a training session, making it an enjoyable choice for a mixed-age family group.
Allow around 90 minutes for the overall visit. Check the current booking information before you go, as the booked game session may be shorter and details can change.
A café and a handy Southport location
There’s a café area at Footy Nation where you can stop for a drink or snack. The venue is close to the seafront, so it can easily fit into a wider day out in Southport. You could combine it with time by the coast or another activity at Ocean Plaza, depending on what your family fancies.
At the moment, Footy Nation has one location: Southport. Hopefully they decide to expand to other cities.
